This is where I plan to post the pics of Oakland Mansion, where Alan and I will be married this summer. It is a beautiful manor orginally built in 1811, more historical information you can glean from their site. The place is absolutely lovely. I knew as soon as I saw it I had to find a way to afford it. Even Kevin will love it, if for no other reason than that it is entirely blue and gold.

The front entrance of Oakland Mansion.

Here is the floor plan for the first floor. Not exactly drawn to scale, but gives you a good idea. Off of the stairs from the verrandah is a large brick patio backing to the woods, a small rose garden and the Bishop's Garden.

Taken as an overhead shot from one of the stair wells. To the right stands open the entrance to the ballroom.

Shows one of the picturesque stairwells leading up to the second floor. You can also see the piano that is included and free for use.

Shows the entrance from the foyer into the ballroom. Lovely glass transcept over the doors, sadly does not show on the other side.

The view as you walk thru the entrance to the windows that look out onto the verrandah and the patio. Two large windows on either end and two doors that open up onto the verrandah. I just like the word verrandah... :)

As you turn to the left you will see the other side of the room, with one of the lovely mantles and plenty of space for some informal seating. Mantles and fireplaces are already decorated appropriate to the season, so minimal additional decorations are needed.

This is the entrance looking from the ballroom into the foyer and at the front door of the mansion.

Doors to the catering kitchen from the ballroom and the other mantle.

This is the Verrandah showing the stylish railings and the plastic that can be put up in case of inclement weather.

One of the upstairs conference rooms appropriate for sticking children in with VCR and TV to be supervised.

And that my dears is what I have of Oakland. No pictures of the patio or other upstairs rooms, or the lovely library, sadly as the camera ran out of batteries. Thanks Roland for the use of the camera!!!
