The gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam... |
flowers and fashion
2003-04-23 - 3:45 p.m.My pansies seem to be thriving at the foot of the driveway. Oh happiness. Who could have thought that I could plant something and it would actually grow? As well as the pansies, the forsythia that Alan got to plant at the fence line seem to be doing well. The blooms have fallen in lieu of new green leaves. ohh... We apparently have a white and red azalea in the front yard, as well as a pitifully small pink one. I wonder if the pink will survive? We thought roughly of buying more to fill out the bed by the walkway where previous ones died upon our buying the house. The lavendar colored azalea on the back hill is thriving like crazy though.
I had to perform a shoulder-pad-ectomy today at my desk. Great blazer that I love, but I was finally done with the shoulder-pads. They weren't even hideous 80's ones, but I was done. So imagine me sitting at my computer with desk scissors and a left over needle threaded black (from previous button replacement on wool coat earlier in season) ripping seams in lining of jacket to pull out evil foam shoulder pads, and sew back up the lining seam. It was much easier than I anticipated, I think I need to perform the same surgery on another jacket I have at home. Really, my shoulders are broad enough and fit the blazer just fine without enhancement.
We are going to see As You Like It tonight at the Kennedy Center, performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company. I'm really looking forward to it. And going to the Kennedy center will be a new and interesting experience. We are opting to Metro in after tales of the lost motorists circling the Kennedy Center desperate for a way out.
Last weekend was Night Overboard. It was a very fun event. I did get in a baby fix with Miguel and Violante's Jessica and Havorc and Mary-Grace's Grace. I even got to wave at Tristan and Lisette's Brandon. But for some reason this was the event of the cranky babies. It wasn't just one of them, all of them were tired, cold, teething, what have you. Poor things. Their parents were great at keeping them calm, but cranky babies. Cute, but cranky. I did my part to play with them from time to time to free up moments of peace for the parents. Cute babies. Other people's children...
This weekend is the Trayned Bandes' Mousehole down on the farm. I had hoped to make a new outfit, but my industriousness level is very low. I have been managing to sew in front of the TV some this week. Made progress on the hemp cord boned pair of bodies. It is essentially constructed, and I need to do edge finishing, tabs and lacing holes with my patented Blackbear awl. At the very least it will give me something to hand sew this weekend at the event. Between Mousehole this weekend and NOB last weekend, I'll be all Elizabethaned out by Crown. :) Or not.
Now, if I could just get the pollen to cooperate, i.e: leave!, I'd be a happy camper.
Time for me to bounce!
