Mr. and (soon to be)Mrs. Accomplished

Wow, sounds like Sapphire was the place to be on Sat. I knew it would be, but had so much to do that really, I couldn't afford teh time away from home. As it was we accomplished a bunch of wedding and house stuff this weekend.

Friday night was a quick dinner out with Roland, Theo and Q. After my lovely indian buffett lunch with Q, this was particularly fun. We went to Lone Star in Laurel, and maybe because it was late, we had no wait and had great food, even if a smarmy waiter. Let's just say that if I was single in a bar and he came up to me, I think I'd excuse myself for the potty to escape.

Saturday was busy. Alan and I went mattress shopping for a real queen sized bed for our real bedroom. We met a salesman who could be considered desperate to make a sale. He cut $200 off the price of the mattress set and tossed in a free frame to boot. Rock on. The one problem is that he didn't have it in stock at his store, but did have it at the Wheaton store. So we paid for it there, swung by the storage unit to grab a load of loot, and traded Scarlett for Rhett and picked up our new bed, and promptly put it together and tried very hard to not immediately take a nap on it. Afterwards we took Scarlett to Costco in Fairfax to load up on booze for the wedding. We filled Scarlett one layer deep with the back seat folded down with wine and beer. Yeah folks, it will be just wine and beer, but good wine and good beer. I almost laughed when the caterer asked me if the crowd would be classified as heavy or light drinkers... There was also some drama with picking out champagne, but all is well with the world. After we got home and unloaded all the alcohol into the nice cool basement, Alan and I went out to dinner at Hard Times and went to see Star Wars again.

Mini-rant. People on cell phones in the theater. Okay, it is bad enough when someone forgets to turn off their phone and it rings and they have to rush out to the lobby to talk. Really, that's just forgetfullness. When we paid our moola to go see the latest Lucasfilm, we expected to enjoy it. For the most part we did, except for the a$$hole two rows ahead of us who not only didn't turn off the cell phone, but answered it in the theater, had a conversation with the person on the other end, and proceeded to do this two other times. Once during the romantic scene with Ani and Padme. What a jerk! Never, never answer the phone and talk during a movie, not even at the dolla show. argh!

Sunday we spent all day at IKEA shopping around the showroom, eating lunch and figuring out what to get, and then shopping the self serve area, getting our shelves, packing Scarlett, which was interesting in and of itself, and making our way home 4 hours later. Once we got home of course we had to spend 3 hours unloading the truck, and assembling our shelves, whihc was fun. Alan and I make a pretty good team. Except for the packing the truck together, the assembling the shelves together went pretty darn smoothly considering you had two folks with different brains working on the same project. I think they look stunning! Afterwards we joined Roland, Theo, Bob and Iz out to dinner at Red Hot and Blue. Mmmm.... Ribs!!

Monday was wedding ring shopping and buying and then a Home Depot and Giant run for stuff. We stablilized our new shelving units together, and got beer and wine and cider for when the same dinner crew came over and did Outback Takeaway. We meant to grill, really we did, but with the unpredicatble weather and all we let Outback do it for us and we just enjoyed the spoils of the gathering. We even all managed to sit at our dining room table, with a mismatch of different chairs and ate like civilized people. It was lovely.

The only things on our weekend list we didn't accomplish was getting rid of the shrubs at the end of the driveway, and assembling my veil. Ah well, there is still parts of this coming Sunday available...

yikes!

and of course all I want to do is unload books onto the new shelves. :)
