Hee hee hee, Achtung Baby!

Thursday night was a lovely picnic dinner with the Shakespeare crew, and an outdoor showing of Much Ado About Nothing. As is most of their productions, it was amazing and I didn't have any cicadas land on me and make me scream like a baby. I also got to tinker with the chunk of wool that made the cute little mousie for Wen and Rob's cat Garibaldi to play with. I confess, it was damn cute.

This weekend I did not go to UofA, instead for Friday, Saturday and Sunday I sat in a chilly room in Alexandria at very cool personal growth forum. I took the Landmark Forum. It was an extremely powerful experience, but trying to explain it is diffucult. Essentially I was a jerk going into it, and I'm still a jerk. No miracles really. But what I learned was to recognize when and how I was being a crazy incompatible-with-others-human-being and to not be that way. Very cool. But it did mean for some extremely late nights, sleep deprivation, and lots of time in the car contemplating the whole thing. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Monday saw us preparing for Alan's knee surgery (yes, again, just like last Oct, but they put a stitch or two in the tear in the miniscus this time since it was obviously not healin on its own, but I get ahead of myself). I dropped off my truck at the dealership again since she is still squeaking, and picked up a loaner car and then swung by home to collect 4 bags of old clothes to take to the AmVets Thrift Store in Laurel. Then we set up the den for Alan's post-surgery arrival by bringing down bedding, toothbrush, etc. so he could live on one level for a few days. All went well, he wasn't even groggy post surgery when Wendy came by to return Rhett and pick up Gray. So Monday and Tuesday after the surgery we watched B5 on DVD, I fetched us food and stuff. The one blessing is that we got to spend almost all day on our 2nd Wedding Anniversary together, even if it was watching TV and hanging out in our PJs.

Wednesday and Thursday had me back to work for a work conference, so I still wasn't in my office and able to reliably check my email during the day. The speakers were excellent, I liked the concept of the conf, if the execution left me somewhat unfulfilled. Eh. Freddy and Alice brought me and the invalid dinner last night and we got to hang out with them for a few hours and chat. It was nice to be pampered after being the pampering one. Alice even emptied my dishwasher and loaded it again. happy sigh.

Today my parents are coming in town, in fact they have arrived, and we will get to spend time with them and go furniture shopping at IKEA and help them take away our stash of 2nd hand furniture from the last posting. I'm looking forward to a bit of family and rest and relaxation.

Hoping your worlds are as relatively happy as mine, even if you are now plagued with the terror of the spider-human hybrid that is I! Perhaps this is why I perform spider-ectomies and remove them from the home instead of killing them. :)
